소방청(청장 허석곤)은 전기차‧수소차 등 친환경 차량의 보급 확대에 따른 화재 및 재난 상황에 효과적으로 대응하기 위해, 현대‧기아자동차와 협력하여 ‘친환경차 재난대응 교육’을 실시한다고 밝혔다.
소방청 국가화재정보시스템 자료에 따르면 최근 5년간(2020년~2024년) ▲전기차 화재 223건 ▲하이브리드차 159건 ▲수소차 5건 등 친환경 차량에서의 화재 발생 건수는 지속적으로 증가하고 있는 것으로 나타났다.

특히 전기차 화재의 경우 급격한 연소 확대와 진압에 오랜 시간이 걸리는 특성으로 인해 화재발생 시 인적‧물적 피해가 커질 우려가 있다.
이에 이번 교육은 현장 대원의 안전확보와 전문 대응역량 강화를 위한 선제적 조치로 마련됐으며, 이달부터 올해 말(12월)까지 약 7개월간 전국 242개 소방서, 현장에 근무 중인 모든 소방대원을 대상으로 실시한다.
현대‧기아자동차는 자사의 전국 서비스센터망(현대 22개, 기아 16개)과 보유 차량을 적극 활용해 교육을 지원한다. 시도 소방본부와 협의된 일정에 따라 각 서비스 센터의 전기차 및 수소차를 이용해 소방서 방문교육 형태로 운영되며, 전기차 구조와 고전압시스템 등에 대한 이론교육과 전기차 사고시 문개방 및 고전압시스템 차단방법 등 실습을 병행하는 실질적인 교육이 진행될 예정이다.
